Applying for Financial Aid

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) serves as the official application for federal financial aid at Marist College.  To ensure adequate processing time, we recommend that you file your FAFSA as per the deadline below, online at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa

  • The 2023-24 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available as of October 1, 2022, using Prior-Prior Year Tax Information. Applicants seeking federal financial aid must complete the FAFSA.
  • The FAFSA school code for Marist is 002765.

 

IRS Data Retrieval

The Department of Education has enhanced the FAFSA filing process to allow tax data to be retrieved directly from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The IRS Data Retrieval Tool will allow the filed federal tax return data to be uploaded directly to the FAFSA. If you haven’t already done so, we strongly encourage you to use this tool as it is the fastest, most secure way to provide verified tax information.

Application Types

Early Decision Applicants

Early Decision I and Early Decision II are binding admission programs which require a deposit. The Early Decision I deposit deadline is February 15 and the Early Decision II deposit deadline is March 1.

Timeline for Early Decision I Applicants:

- October 1, 2022: Create a FSA user ID and password. Complete FAFSA.

- November 15, 2022: Priority deadline to complete the 2023-24 FAFSA.

- February 1, 2023: Award notifications emailed to students with a completed FAFSA on file.

Timeline for Early Decision II Applicants:

- October 1, 2022: Create a FSA user ID and password. Complete FAFSA.

- February 1, 2023: Priority deadline to complete the 2023-24 FAFSA.

- Late February 2023: Award notifications emailed to students with a completed FAFSA on file.

Early Action Applicants

The priority deadline for completion of the FAFSA is November 15, 2022. The Early Action deposit deadline is May 1.

October 1, 2022: Create a FSA user ID and password. Complete FAFSA.

November 15, 2022: Priority deadline to complete the 2023-24 FAFSA.

February 1, 2023: Award notifications emailed to students with a completed FAFSA on file.

May 1, 2023: Marist deadline for freshman enrollment deposit.

Once deposit is made: Students who have received a financial aid package should log on to myMarist to view and complete additional required documents.

Regular Decision Applicants

The priority deadline for completion of the FAFSA is January 1, 2023. The Regular Decision deposit deadline is May 1.

January 1, 2023: Priority deadline to complete the 2023-24 FAFSA.

February 1, 2023 (Rolling Notification): Award notifications emailed to students with a completed FAFSA on file.

May 1, 2023: Marist deadline for freshman enrollment deposit.

Once deposit is made: Students who have received a financial aid package should log on to myMarist to view and complete additional required documents.

International Applicants

The CSS PROFILE is required for all International Applicants seeking need-based institutional aid. Please note, the college is unable to provide full scholarships. Marist's CSS Profile School Code is 2400.

October 1, 2022: The CSS PROFILE is available.

November 15, 2022: CSS PROFILE priority deadline for Early Decision I Applicants and Early Action Applicants.

February 1, 2023: Award notifications for Early Decision I Accepted Students will be emailed to students with a completed CSS PROFILE on file.

February 1, 2023: Early Decision II and Regular Decision International Students complete CSS PROFILE.

February 1, 2023 (Rolling Notifications): Award notifications for Regular Decision Accepted Students will be emailed to students with a completed CSS PROFILE on file.

Late February 2023: Award notifications for Early Decision II Accepted Students will be emailed to students with a completed CSS PROFILE on file.

Note: Award notifications for admitted Early Decision I students will be sent via email to students with a completed CSS PROFILE on file.
 

Transfer Applicants

October - December: Create a FSA user ID and password. Complete FAFSA.

October - December: Update Federal FAFSA School Code to 002765 for Spring transfer applications.

November: Student financial aid packages mailed on a rolling basis to Spring admitted students.

February - August: Complete the FAFSA for Fall acceptance.

March: Student financial aid packages mailed on a rolling basis for Fall admits.

* Transfer students' deposit deadline is typically two to three weeks after acceptance.

To be considered for financial aid from the College, the state or federal government, a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be filed. The form may be completed online at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. The Marist College school code is 002765 and must be listed on the application.

Late-January 2023

Financial Aid notification for prospective Early Decision and Early Action admitted students are available.

Late-February 2023 Financial Aid notification for prospective Early Decision II students are available.
Mid-March

Financial Aid notification for prospective Regular Decision students are available on a rolling basis.

Verification Requirements

Marist College verifies information submitted on the FASFA for freshman students selected for verification by the Department of Education.

Complete the Financial Aid Requirements via myMarist. 

If you have not already done so, we strongly encourage you to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool on the FASFA.  It is the fastest and most secure way to provide verified tax information.

June 2023

Loan Process Begins-Please accept/decline your federal student loans on myMarist.

Your Federal Direct loan will be processed for the amount indicated on your award letter. You are required to complete the MPN and entrance counseling online via your myMarist account under the "Financial Aid Requirements" section.
