LGBTQ+ Happy Hour
The LGBTQ+ Sub-committee of the Marist College Diversity Council would like to invite you to cocktails and appetizers. This informal gathering is a way for faculty, staff, Marist Allies, and all those who are supportive of our LGBTQ+ community to come to know one another in a relaxing setting. Appetizers will be provided by the LGBTQ+ Sub-committee and a cash bar will be available.
Ally Network Training
The goal of this program is to provide a welcoming environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender persons by establishing an identifiable network of individuals who can provide support, information and a safe place within our campus community. One session for faculty/staff and one session for students is typically held each semester.

Ally Happy Hour

The Words They Call Me
On April 30, 2015, Student Government hosted "The Words They Call Me," a special event designed by students to explore diversity issues on campus. The event included performances and a panel discussion featuring students, alumni, administrators, and faculty.
Diversity Panel Discussion: Why Is Diversity So Important?
On Tuesday, March 31 the Marist College Diversity Council presented a panel discussion called "Why Is Diversity So Important?"
The facilitator/moderator for the panel discussion was Dr. Edward Pittman, Associate Dean of the College, Vassar College.

OUT in the Real World
On Thursday, April 24, the LGBTQ+ Subcommittee of the Marist College Diversity Council hosted a brand new event on campus called OUT in the Real World. As part of this special event, Marist alumni returned to campus to share personal stories about being openly gay in the workplace. This alumni and “friend” panel answered questions about interviewing, finding gay friendly workplaces, and how/when to share your story with colleagues
On Wednesday, May 7, the LGBTQ+ subcommittee of the Diversity Council, the Center for Multicultural Affairs, and the School of Liberal Arts welcomed activist, journalist, and publicist Jay Blotcher to Marist College. Mr. Blotcher spoke about New York Gay activism of the 80's, including ACT UP, in reaction to the medical community's treatment of the AIDS pandemic.
